Stop ruining the landscape of this beautiful park.

The Issue

Alton Towers, A theme park known for it's thrills and intense rides and experiences. But this theme park also is one of the most picturesque and beautiful theme parks in the whole of the UK.

Brief History:

Alton Towers was originally the ancestral home of the Earl of Shrewsbury in the 19th Century, it was then bought and turned into attraction with a few fairground rides until it was turned into a official Theme park in 1980. Years past and the park was purchased by Tussauds group who focussed on turning the theme park into a magical and whimsical atmosphere.

The park is now owned by Merlin Entertainments who also own several other attractions such as Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland Windsor as well as the many Sealife and Dungeons attraction around the UK and the world.

What has caused this petition?

The main cause of the petition is the image that is shown on this petition, originally guests could walk up onto the walkway on the bridge and have excellent views of the lake and the towers but this has been ruined by the inclusion of a standard black metal fence which completely ruins the aesthetic and history of the area of the park. There is no logical explanation why this fence has been added but one guess is that it is the work of Health and Safety.

Admittedly there could be some potential safety issues with the walkway but the section should not be cordened off to the public. Alton Towers should work on the potential issues and fix them rather than the method they have decided to choose.

This petition is designed to show that people care about the landscape and design of the Theme Park and show how people care about the park as a whole rather than just the rides.

Hopefully this petition will be succesful and get them to remove the fence and keep the charm of this beautiful area, Health and safety never take into account the effect this will have on the area and seem to just care about if anyone is getting hurt, obviously this is a major concern but it needs to be resolved in a way that keeps the charm of the local landscape.
