Where as,

- Education has been defined as a basic human right by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and, according to the Declaration, "higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit";

- International students are not at all responsible for the financial difficulty the university is in and, therefore, shall not suffer the consequence for such difficulty;

- Simon Fraser University brands herself as a university "engaging the world" and, therefore, shall not set any non-academic burden that prevent excellent international students from receiving higher education from her;

We, the under-signed, urge Simon Fraser University's administration:

- To cancel and nullify the decision in 2013/2014 Operating Budget and Financial Plan to increase international students' tuition fee by 10% per year;

- To take a stronger stand at the face of the Government of British Columbia, which had failed miserably to safe-guard the fundings to British Columbia's elementary, secondary, technical, higher and continuing education, and fight for sustainable funding from the government instead of constantly cashing from international students.
