1. The voters of North Cowichan need more time to understand all the facts about the proposed road on the Maple Bay (Stoney Hill) Peninsula.
2. Councilor Hartmann's motion that the deadline for electoral forms be extended a month should be amended to 2 months, until February 14th.
3. Envrionmental impact studies are necessary before a new road is approved.
4. A community plan for The Maple Bay Peninsula is necessary before a new road is discussed. This should include ascertaining public opinion about hydro and development on The Peninsula.
5. The public should be given reasonable access to information and reasonable time to understand all the facts about rezoning public lands.
6. The government has no right to sell waterfront property for any reason without public consultation.
7. In this case, the electoral form process is unreasonable. Voters who may be elderly or handicapped or without cars, must be able to hand in forms without traveling north of Duncan to the Municipal Hall.
8. Petitions should be acceptable.
