People of Melbourne have the luxury of having the day to relax, be at the cup and enjoy it with their family. When you are work nothing much happens and most of it you are at a work lunch and then go home early. Why not have the day as a national holiday. Many people take the day off, throw sickies, so the country embracing it as a day to celebrate would make sense.

Talk to your local MP and let them know you want them to make this change. Write to them and urge them to make this a national holiday.
