Zac Unger is the newly elected Councilmember for District 1 of the Oakland City Council. He was elected in November 2024, succeeding Dan Kalb, who had held the seat since 2012. Unger is a lifelong resident of Oakland and has worked as a firefighter for the Oakland Fire Department for nearly three decades. He also served as the president of Local 55 of the International Association of Fire Fighters
