United States Department of the Interior

The United States Department of the Interior (DOI) is a federal agency responsible for managing and conserving federally owned lands and natural resources. This encompasses over 500 million acres of public lands, including national parks, monuments, wildlife refuges, and other areas. The DOI also oversees programs relating to Native American and Alaska Native affairs, including tribal governance and natural resource management. Other responsibilities of the department include water and mineral resource management, scientific research and education, and the preservation of historic and cultural resources.
