Shekar Krishnan

Shekar Krishnan is an American attorney and politician, currently serving as a member of the New York City Council for the 25th district, which includes Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, parts of East Elmhurst, and a small portion of Woodside in northwestern Queens. He assumed office in 2022. Krishnan holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's in Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. His career includes roles such as Director of Legal Advocacy and Director of the Preserving Affordable Housing Program at Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, Litigation Associate at Weil Gotshal and Manges, and Co-Founder and Chief Program Officer at Communities Resist Inc. He has also served as a Law Clerk to a U.S. District Judge in the Eastern District of New York.
