On March 15, 2026, a disturbing incident unfolded outside the police station in Mena, Arkansas, involving Sgt. Eddie Price and Arkansas resident Edward Corristan. Corristan, a concerned father, was simply trying to report issues regarding his missing 2-year-old son amidst a custody dispute. Instead of receiving the assistance he desperately sought, Corristan faced a harrowing ordeal when he was arrested and subjected to pepper spray.

This incident has sparked outrage in the community and beyond, highlighting the pressing need for accountability and transparency within the Mena Police Department. The use of excessive force by a trusted law enforcement officer is not only unjust but also deeply damaging to public trust. Sgt. Eddie Price's actions have left lasting physical and emotional scars on Corristan and have sown seeds of fear and distrust among local residents.

Statistics from the Bureau of Justice Statistics suggest that nearly 84% of cases where civilians report misconduct by law enforcement go uninvestigated. If left unchecked, such actions by authority figures can multiply, endangering the very communities they are sworn to protect. The time has come for us to demand an independent investigation into this egregious use of force by Sgt. Eddie Price.

Our goal is clear: to ensure that justice is served for Edward Corristan and others who may have been similarly mistreated. This investigation should not only scrutinize the actions of Sgt. Price but also review the department's policies on the use of force and handling of civilian complaints. Additionally, the Mena Police Department should receive training on de-escalation techniques and ensure officers wear body cameras to provide objective documentation of such encounters.

Let us stand united in demanding a thorough investigation into this matter. Sign this petition to call upon the appropriate state and local authorities to hold Sgt. Eddie Price accountable, ensure the safety of Mena residents, and restore public confidence in those tasked with keeping us safe. Your signature can make a difference. Join us in seeking justice for Edward Corristan and an end to police misconduct.
