Satya Rhodes-Conway is an American politician currently serving as the mayor of Madison, Wisconsin. Elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, she is the first openly lesbian mayor in Wisconsin and only the second woman to hold the office in Madison. A member of the Democratic Party, Rhodes-Conway has a strong background in public service and environmental policy. She served as a member of the Madison Common Council from 2007 to 2013. Academically, she earned a Master's degree in Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Smith College. Her career includes roles such as Policy Associate at Defenders of Wildlife, Managing Director at Mayors Innovation Project, and involvement with the Apollo Alliance.
