Salvador Illa is a significant figure in Spanish politics, renowned as the former Minister of Health from 2020 to 2021 under the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Born in 1966 in La Roca del Vallès, Spain, he is a member of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC). Illa's tenure as health minister was notably during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, and his management of this public health crisis was a focal point of his career. Prior to his ministerial appointment, Illa had a variety of political roles, including serving as the secretary of organization of the PSC. He is also the candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia in the 2021 elections.
