Rubén Marinelarena Gallego, born in 1979, is an American politician and writer. He is the United States senator-elect from Arizona and has represented Arizona's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2015. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Gallego served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2011 to 2014, where he was the assistant minority leader. He was first elected to Congress in 2014, representing a district that includes southern, western, and downtown Phoenix, as well as parts of Glendale. Gallego holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Harvard University and is a veteran, having served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. Additionally, he has held roles such as Director at Strategies 360 and has been involved in various political and leadership positions.
