Robert J. Peters, born in 1985, is a prominent American politician and a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 13th district, which encompasses areas such as East Side, Hyde Park, Kenwood, South Chicago, South Shore, and Woodlawn in Chicago. Peters assumed office on January 6, 2019, succeeding Kwame Raoul, and currently serves as the chair of the Illinois Senate Black Caucus. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Kansas State University.
