Ritchie John Torres, born in 1988, is an American politician and a prominent member of the Democratic Party. He serves as the U.S. Representative for New York's 15th congressional district, which encompasses much of the South Bronx. Notably, this district is recognized as the poorest in the U.S. by median income and is one of the smallest by area. Prior to his tenure in Congress, Torres was a member of the New York City Council from 2014 to 2020, representing District 15. In 2021, he became a member of the United States House of Representatives, where he continues to serve.
