Raja Krishnamoorthi is an elected official serving as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 8th Congressional District since 2017, representing parts of Chicago's northwest suburbs. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the first South Asian American to lead a Congressional Committee, currently serving as Ranking Member of the Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and China. Raja holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. He has previously worked as Illinois Deputy Treasurer and was involved in initiatives to promote affordable housing and technology investment. Known for his leadership in public integrity and economic growth, Raja is dedicated to enhancing opportunities for middle-class families. He resides in Schaumburg with his wife Priya and their three children
