Patrick James Morrisey, born in 1967, is an American politician and lawyer who has made significant contributions to West Virginia's political landscape. A member of the Republican Party, Morrisey is the governor-elect of West Virginia and has served as the state’s 34th Attorney General since 2013. He was the first Republican to hold this position since 1933, winning the election in 2012. In 2018, Morrisey ran for the United States Senate, securing the Republican nomination but narrowly losing to Democratic incumbent Joe Manchin in the general election.
