Orrin G. Hatch is an American attorney, retired politician, and composer. He notably served as a United States Senator from Utah for over four decades, from 1977 to 2019. Recognized as a conservative Republican, Hatch spent a significant amount of his political career in key legislative roles including President pro tempore of the Senate from 2015 to 2019, and Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Apart from politics, Hatch has made a name for himself in the arts world, garnering attention for his efforts as a lyricist of Christian hymns and patriotic songs. He retired from politics in 2019, making him the longest-serving Republican U.S. Senator in history at the time of his retirement.
