Nida Allam is a Canadian-American politician, political activist, and data analyst. She made history in 2020 by becoming the first Muslim woman elected to public office in North Carolina, serving on the Durham County Board of Commissioners. Her election marked a significant milestone as it was the first time the board was composed entirely of women in its 139-year history. Allam is affiliated with the Democratic Party and has served as the North Carolina State Director at the State Innovation Exchange. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Materials & Technology from NC State University.
