Marion Michael Rounds, commonly known as Mike Rounds, is an influential American businessman and politician currently serving as the junior United States Senator from South Dakota, a position he has held since 2015. Born in South Dakota, Rounds is a member of the Republican Party. He served as the 31st Governor of South Dakota from 2003 to 2011 and was a member of the South Dakota State Senate from 1991 to 2001, during which he was the majority leader from 1995 to 2000. Rounds graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from South Dakota State University. Beyond politics, he has experience as a real estate agent, which complements his extensive public service career.
