Michael F. Bennet, born November 28, 1964, is an American businessman, lawyer, and politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Colorado. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as superintendent of Denver Public Schools before his appointment to the Senate in 2009. Known for his focus on education and immigration reform, Bennet emerged as a significant national political figure. He has also served on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee in the Senate. Outside of his public service career, he has worked as the Managing Director for the Anschutz Investment Company. Bennet holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Yale Law School.
