Markwayne Mullin is an American politician, businessman, and rancher, born in 1977, who has served as the junior United States Senator from Oklahoma since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected in a special election in 2022 to complete the term of Jim Inhofe. Mullin is notable for being the first Native American U.S. senator since Ben Nighthorse Campbell and the second Cherokee Nation citizen to serve in the Senate, following Robert Latham Owen. Prior to his Senate role, Mullin was the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2023. He holds a Bachelor's in Applied Sciences in Construction Technology from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. Mullin is also a successful entrepreneur, owning several businesses, including Mullin Environmental and Mullin's Plumbing.
