Mark B. Steffen is an American politician serving as a Kansas State Senator from the 34th district since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he unseated one-term Republican incumbent Edward Berger in the August 4, 2020 primary with 57.5% of the vote and defeated Democrat Shanna Henry in the general election with 69.8%. Before entering politics, Steffen pursued a career in medicine, earning an M.D. from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Biology from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Professionally, he has worked as an anesthesiologist and served as Managing Partner and Operator at Steffen Resource Development. Additionally, he is a rancher and farmer with Steffen Family Natural Resources.
