Mark Emmert

Mark Emmert is an American academic and business executive who, since 2010, has served as the president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Prior to this role, he held high-profile positions in several universities, including Chancellor of the University of Connecticut from 1999 to 2004 and president of his alma mater, the University of Washington, from 2004 to 2010. Emmert is known for his work in student-athlete welfare and academic success, emphasizing the role of sports within an academic environment. Born in 1952 in Fife, Washington, Emmert holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a Ph.D in public administration. His leadership, however, has been met with both praise and criticism, notably in the face of legal, ethical, and financial challenges faced by the NCAA.
