Mark James DeSaulnier is an American politician and restaurateur serving as a U.S. Representative from California since 2015. Originally representing the 11th congressional district, he now represents the 10th district as of 2023, which covers most of Contra Costa County in the East Bay area. A member of the Democratic Party since 2000, Mark transitioned from being a Republican earlier in his career. His diverse professional background includes roles such as a probation officer, business executive, and general manager. His political service includes being a member of the California State Assembly (2006-2008), the California State Senate (2008-2014), Mayor of Concord, and a Contra Costa County Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross.
