Mark Begich is an American politician and former U.S. Senator from Alaska from 2009 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as mayor of Anchorage from 2003 until 2009. Prior to his political career, Begich expanded his family's real estate company and operated a marketing and consulting firm. Known for his persistent advocacy for climate and environmental issues, he also maintains a strong focus on Arctic policy, infrastructure, and social issues. Even after leaving the Senate, he continues to serve in roles promoting Alaskan economic development and conservation efforts.
