She holds a Master's degree in Educational Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in History, both from Northern Arizona University. Mae has served in various influential roles, including Native American Liaison at the U.S. Department of the Interior and CEO/Owner of Navajo Beauty Way. Her legislative career includes serving as a State Senator in the Arizona State Senate and a State Representative in the Arizona House of Representatives. She has also contributed to educational initiatives as a Program Coordinator at the Educational Opportunity Center at Northern Arizona University and Lead Coordinator at Developing Innovations in Navajo Education, Inc. Mae's career began with her service as an Administrative Specialist in the U.S. Army.
