LaToya Cantrell is an American politician and sociologist currently serving as the 62nd Mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana, a position she has held since May 7, 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, Cantrell is notable for being the first woman to hold the mayoral office in New Orleans. Before her tenure as mayor, she served as a Council Member for District B on the New Orleans City Council from 2012 to 2018. Her career also includes a role as an Associate Access Specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Cantrell's leadership and dedication to public service have been integral to her political journey, and she continues to play a significant role in the governance and development of New Orleans.
