Lance Carter Gooden, born in 1982, is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 5th congressional district since 2019. His district includes parts of eastern Dallas and a significant portion of exurban and rural areas to the east of Dallas. A member of the Republican Party, Gooden has a strong background in both finance and government, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in these fields from the University of Texas. Before his tenure in Congress, he served as a State Representative in the Texas House from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, Gooden has professional experience as an insurance broker, which complements his legislative focus on financial and economic matters.
