Kent Smith is an American politician currently serving as the Senator for Ohio's 21st district in the Ohio Senate. A lifelong resident of Euclid, Ohio, Smith has a long history of public service in his community. He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and previously served on the Euclid School Board for 12 years. Smith also held the position of head of the Democratic Party for Euclid. He holds a degree from the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. In 2014, he ran for the Ohio House of Representatives, successfully winning his seat with 71.47% of the vote. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has served as Minority Whip in the Ohio Senate.
