Kay Granger is an American politician and business executive known for her long-standing service as the U.S. representative for Texas's 12th congressional district since 1997. A member of the Republican Party, she served as chair of the United States House Committee on Appropriations from 2023 to 2024. Granger's career in public service began at the local level, where she was a member from 1981 to 1989 and served as the mayor of Fort Worth from 1991 to 1995. Before her political career, Granger worked as a high school journalism and English teacher and owned an insurance agency. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University. Granger's extensive experience reflects her dedication to both her constituents and the broader legislative process.
