Justin Cummings is a dedicated public servant and accomplished academic with a strong background in ecology and evolutionary biology. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature, as well as Biology, from Eastern Illinois University, and a Doctorate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Cummings has served in various roles, including as a Drone Operator and Environmental Sensor Technician and Program Director for the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at UC Santa Cruz. He furthered his research as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Florida International University. In addition to his academic and environmental work, Cummings has made significant contributions to local government, serving as a Council Member and Mayor of the City of Santa Cruz.
