Justin Amash is an American lawyer and former politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 3rd congressional district from 2011 to 2021. Known for his libertarian views, Amash was initially a member of the Republican Party before leaving in 2019 to become an independent. He later joined the Libertarian Party in 2020 and became the first member of that party to serve in Congress. Amash holds conservative views on fiscal policy, advocating for limited government and free markets, while championing civil liberties and expressing non-interventionist views in foreign policy. In addition to his political career, he is also a co-founder of the House Freedom Caucus.
