I've seen firsthand the damaging impact that certain individuals in educational positions can have on young, impressionable students. Alexis Tharp is one such individual, and it is crucial for the well-being of our children that decisive action is taken.

Alexis Tharp has a troubling history of bullying students of all ages and abilities, including those who are younger, older, and even disabled. Her behavior has not gone unnoticed in the past; she was let go from her positions at Nokomis and Staunton School Districts for similar reasons. Despite this, she has somehow retained a teaching position in her current school and continues her pattern of abusive behavior.

I am deeply concerned that Alexis Tharp's continued presence in the classroom is not only detrimental to the learning environment but also poses a significant risk to the mental and emotional health of the students under her care. Bullying in schools has long-term effects on children, including increased anxiety, depression, and a decline in academic performance, as evidenced by numerous studies published by reputable institutions like the American Psychological Association.

When a teacher violates this sacred trust, immediate intervention is necessary to prevent further harm.

We propose that the school board conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into Alexis Tharp’s conduct, considering testimonies from past and present students, parents, and fellow educators. If the allegations are substantiated, Alexis Tharp should be relieved of her teaching duties to safeguard the students who rely on the school environment for their education and personal development.
