Jim Duran is a lifelong resident of Ventura, California, currently serving as the City Councilmember for District 6. He was sworn into office on December 12, 2022. Before his tenure on the City Council, Duran had a diverse career. At 23, he became the General Manager of Casa Maria Mexican Restaurant, owned by Host/Marriott. He later served as a District Manager for Sbarro LLC in Northern California. Upon returning to Ventura, Duran worked as a quality control supervisor and product development manager for a local cannery and also owned and operated a house cleaning business. He then became the administrator of a local senior living community, earning recognition as "Executive Director of the Year" by the California Assisted Living Association in 2010.
