Helen Hudson is currently serving as the President of the Syracuse Common Council, a position she has held since January 1, 2022. Her term is set to continue until December 31, 2025. In this role, she chairs the Charter, Rules, Procedure & RFP Committee and is a member of several other committees, including those focused on public transportation and neighborhood preservation.Before becoming an elected official, Hudson was actively involved in community organization and advocacy. She worked on initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence and improving community safety. Her background includes extensive experience in community service and grassroots organizing, which has informed her approach to governance and her priorities on the council
