Gus Michael Bilirakis is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 12th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, he began his Congressional career in 2007, succeeding his father, Michael Bilirakis, in representing Florida's 9th congressional district. Before his tenure in Congress, Bilirakis served as the Florida State Representative for the 48th district from 1998 to 2006. His district encompasses much of the northern portion of the Tampa Bay area. In addition to his political career, Bilirakis is also a professor and lawyer. He has consistently been re-elected, demonstrating his enduring presence and influence in Florida politics.
