Government of Jamaica

The Government of Jamaica operates as a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, adhering to the Westminster model. This means that the sovereign (the British monarch) is the head of state, while the prime minister is the head of government. The country's executive powers are vested in the monarch and exercised by the Cabinet of Jamaica, led by the prime minister. Jamaica's legislative authority lies with the bicameral Parliament, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The judiciary is independent and holds a system of courts which upholds the rule of law and ensures justice.
