The Gobernador de Puerto Rico, or the Governor of Puerto Rico, is the highest-ranking official in the government of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. As the chief executive of the island, the governor is responsible for executing the laws of the land, appointing government officials, vetoing or approving legislation, maintaining public order, and directing the administration of public funds. Duties also include representing Puerto Rico at a national and international level. The Governorship is a four-year elected position, with no term limits.
