Growing up, I never realized the reality of invasive surveillance in my very own hometowns of Beavercreek and Fairborn, Ohio. This time, however, it cuts deeper and has become personal because my life has calmed down a little. You see, for years, my focus was solely on providing for myself and my mother, who was bravely fighting her battle with breast cancer. I was also there for my best friend, working tirelessly to prevent him from losing his home. We made it through together, but in supporting them, I had unconsciously neglected the broader issues affecting our communities. Now, with a little free time, I've decided it’s time to use this freedom to help not just my loved ones, but others, to ensure a brighter future for the next generation, including my unborn child.

I believe it's essential to question the use of flock cameras, which seem to be multiplying at an alarming rate in our neighborhoods—from Beavercreek and Fairborn to the next planned stops in Brookville and beyond. It's worrying to know my child could grow up in an environment where these cameras constantly watch them without genuine consent or privacy protections in place. Where are the boundaries, and what assurances do we have that such surveillance doesn't infringe on our fundamental freedoms?

The implementation of flock cameras is often done under the guise of public safety, yet their efficacy and transparency remain disputed. Studies show mixed results, with no conclusive link between increased surveillance and a significant drop in crime rates. These cameras might be a false assurance that costs communities not only in tax dollars but also in liberties. Instead of fostering a controlled, monitored community, we should strive for one driven by genuine safety measures and community engagement initiatives.

Moreover, being from the generation that will inherit the Earth, it's our duty to challenge such practices, educate ourselves, and push for environments that honor both safety and our right to privacy. Let us not accept widespread, unchecked surveillance as the new normal. We must be vocal, informed, and continuous in our advocacy for new technologies that balance security with ethical data use.

Through this petition, I aim to rally the support of those who believe in a safer, more private future for us and our children. Let's urge local leaders to reassess the deployment of these cameras and seek alternatives that respect civil liberties, foster transparency, and prioritize the well-being of our citizens over invasive surveillance methods.

Join me in advocating for change, for protecting our freedoms, and for paving the way towards a more accountable and transparent approach to community safety. Together, we can push for a future where our rights and ecosystems are preserved. Please sign this petition to stand up against invasive surveillance in Ohio and to safeguard the future for our children and ourselves.

If you donate beware it goes to the website to fund their employees to push the word out but not to the petition or I.
