Department of Justice

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is a key department within the United States federal government which is responsible for enforcing the law, defending the interests of the United States in legal matters, and ensuring fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans. It is led by the United States Attorney General, the chief law enforcement officer of the federal government. The DOJ comprises several agencies and divisions, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Prisons, among others, carrying out a myriad of duties related to national security, federal law enforcement, and legal proceedings.
