For almost 70 years, Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio, has been more than just a strip of asphalt—it's a bastion of camaraderie, a symbol of tradition, and a source of countless cherished memories for motorsports enthusiasts across America. Established in 1957, Dragway 42 has not only hosted countless high-octane racing events but has also anchored itself as a vital part of Ohio's cultural and historical tapestry.

Generations of families have made their way to West Salem, gathering to experience the thrill of speed and the roar of engines. From local drag racers vying for weekend glory to nationally acclaimed events that draw in thousands, Dragway 42 has provided a platform for dreams to dawn and talents to shine. It is hallowed ground for enthusiasts, where stories of past glory blend seamlessly with the aspirations of the future.

However, this iconic venue now faces an uncertain future. Currently up for auction, Dragway 42 is at risk of being lost to those who might not value its historic significance and communal spirit. This potential transition threatens to erase decades of tradition and eliminate a significant hub of automotive passion.

It is not merely about preserving a racetrack; it's about safeguarding a piece of Ohio's heart. The impact of losing Dragway 42 would ripple through communities, affecting local businesses and diminishing our state's rich motorsports heritage. It's imperative that we take action to keep this historic venue within the racetracks' lineage.

There is a path to preserve Dragway 42: engaging stakeholders who understand and appreciate its value and can make informed decisions to keep it operational and thriving. By fostering community interest, involving local governmental bodies, and exploring avenues for historical preservation funding, we can ensure that the racing legacy of Dragway 42 continues to flourish for generations to come.

I urge everyone who cherishes this sacred space, and values the history and culture it embodies, to come together. Sign this petition and help us make a case for saving Dragway 42. Let's ensure future generations can carry on 42’s legacy. With your support, we can protect this beloved racetrack and uphold Ohio's proud motorsports tradition.
