Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University is a private research university based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie as the Carnegie Technical Schools, and became the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1912. The institute merged with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research in 1967 to form Carnegie Mellon University. Known for its programs in arts, technology, and business, the university is globally recognized for its school of computer science and school of drama.
