Carlos Alvarado Quesada

Carlos Alvarado Quesada is a Costa Rican politician, writer, and journalist who currently serves as the 48th President of Costa Rica. Born in 1980, he began his career as a journalist, authoring several acclaimed novels. After shifting to politics, he held various posts within the Citizens' Action Party, including Minister of Human Development and Social Inclusion and Minister of Labor and Social Security. He assumed the presidency in May 2018, becoming the youngest president in the modern history of Costa Rica. Renowned for his progressive policies, he has made significant efforts towards environmental sustainability, gender equality, and fiscal reforms.
