Clarence Burgess Owens is an American politician, former professional football player, and business executive. Since 2021, he has served as the U.S. Representative for Utah's 4th congressional district. A Republican, Owens was first elected to Congress in 2020, defeating incumbent Democrat Ben McAdams. He is one of four Black Republicans in the House of Representatives. Owens played safety in the NFL for the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, winning Super Bowl XV with the Raiders in 1980. After his football career, Owens pursued various business ventures and became CEO of a nonprofit focused on helping troubled and incarcerated youth. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Miami and has held roles at WordPerfect, Motorola, and Sprint/Nextel.
