Brandon Maurice Scott is an American politician currently serving as the 52nd Mayor of Baltimore, Maryland, a position he has held since 2020. He is a dedicated member of the Democratic Party. Prior to becoming mayor, Scott served as the president of the Baltimore City Council from 2019 to 2020, stepping into the role following Jack Young's succession of Catherine Pugh. His political career began as a member of the Baltimore City Council for the second district, where he served from 2011 to 2019. In 2018, Scott was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, running on a ticket with Jim Shea in the gubernatorial election.
