Bill Hagerty is an American businessman and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Tennessee since 2020. A member of the Republican Party, he had previously served as the 30th United States ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019 under the Trump administration. Prior to his political career, Hagerty had an extensive background in the private sector, holding high-level positions at renowned institutions such as the Boston Consulting Group and Hagerty Peterson & Company, a private equity investment firm he co-founded. Known for his business acumen, Hagerty also served as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development from 2011 to 2014.
