Barnaby Joyce: dairy farmers are facing a daily struggle - please step in urgently

I am only 16 years old and have grown up on a dairy farm my entire life, but the massive cuts to milk prices - slashed by 10% and more - have had significant and horrible impact on finances and our lives. Not only have greedy corporates like Fonterra and Murray Goulburn cut the price they will pay us for milk - retrospectively cutting income means farmers will be left hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt! Putting profit before people and leaving thousands of families in the dirt. To ruin Australia's own home grown business is disgraceful. But this can be changed - Agricultural Minister Barnaby Joyce must step in to reverse these cuts and commit to a national review of the ridiculous pricing system leaving farmers in debt. It’s a tough life being a farmer, but we don't have to fight it alone - no one deserves to be stripped financially by the greed of others. There are many more families out there just like mine. So please - let's all unite and do something before it's too late. Please sign & share and let’s together tell Barnaby Joyce to review the milk pricing system - don’t let greedy corporates ruin Aussie dairy farmers!

Support David Blackmore’s right to farm.

My name is Neil Perry. I’m a Sydney chef, owner of Rockpool Bar & Grill and I really need your help. David Blackmore, my good friend and long-time beef supplier, has had his farming permit rejected. It makes no sense - David’s produce is of award winning quality and his cattle are treated with utmost respect. It’s outrageous that complaints on machinery noise and birds from nearby residents and hobby farmers led to Council’s removal of David’s farming rights! Now this incredible farmer and his 1,300 cattle face being forced off his property in just 30 days. He’s fighting the ridiculous claim his farm is a “feedlot”. This is wrong. I have personally been on his property, many times - the cattle graze freely over green pastures and laze under red gumtrees - that comparison is absurd and damaging. David’s farmed here for over a decade, producing delicious beef that I, along with many other celebrity chefs undoubtedly trust in our Wagyu dishes. This is the type of Australian agriculture that should be encouraged, not stopped. I’m calling on the Minister for Agriculture and the Premier of Victoria to support and not hinder best practice Australian farmers by giving farmer David Blackmore back his right to farm. Please sign and share my petition, allowing David to continue to bring us the finest and most sustainably produced Wagyu in Australia.

Please tighten food importation laws and labelling laws.

In the wake of the Hep A contamination of frozen berry products and given the number of food contaminations of late causing serious illness, consumers need to be in possession of clear and accurate data to inform decision-making regarding foods. The government is mandated to protect public health so that avoidable threats are eliminated. Ensure that Parliament to tighten legislation to guarantee: 1.more stringent standards for banning importation of foods that fall below standard in favour of clean, local produce and  2.  clearly (in large print) and accurately indicating on packaging where food comes from as well as where it was packaged and processed.   We need to know our food is not poisonous!

Marriage Equality NOW

Marriage equality is possible in this parliament. Aussies have waited long enough, it’s time to stop the delay. Call on parliament to hold a free vote and pass marriage equality now!Around the country, LGBTI Aussies are denied the ability to marry the person the love, just because of who they are. Parliament could hold a free vote on this straightforward reform when it parliament next sits and it would pass. The only blocker is political will. Two thirds of Aussies, the majority of parliamentarians and the leaders of all major parties support marriage equality. But we haven’t won yet, it’ll take all of our voices to make it a reality. Everyone deserves a fair go for a life of love and commitment. Join the urgent call now to win marriage equality in this parliament and together we’ll build the national campaign needed to win!

Stop Transportation of Livestock in Extreme Weather

Live export and transportation of livestock are prevalent and growing in our society. I ask for those signing this petition to firstly consider how they can personally change the lives of other species themselves, before asking others to take the same action. Consider how you can positively impact lives, then ask others to do the same. This petition has been sparked after a particular incident in Adelaide. On a 41 degree day, two livestock trucks had driven past me on main roads, followed by a sickening stench. This is the stench of death, the stench of deprivation of water, of the lack of any rights and of inhumane treatment. Animals, particularly sheep, had died during the transportation, despite the Department of Agriculture having guidelines which hold the transporter responsible for moving livestock under "harsh weather circumstances". Guidelines are incredibly easy to slip through though, when they aren't defined or concise. These guidelines do not give advice for what appropriate weather conditions for transport should be, and leave that decision to the responsibility of those in care for these animals. I call on our government to reconsider their animal welfare schemes, to carefully consider how their schemes show evidence of loopholes, and to start giving animals legitimate rights. I ask if you sign this, that you support the end of live export, of transportation of animals and of slaughter of animals. This petition is predominantly focused on stopping the transportation of livestock under stressful weather circumstances, however this petition does not support or accept any methods of animal exploitation or abuse, including the consumption of meat and animal bi-products. I beg our government to place strict regulations on all companies responsible for the transportation of livestock, in ensuring that no livestock are to be moved over a certain degree of heat or under extreme cold temperatures and storms. This is a bare minimum for the rights these animals truly deserve.

Australian Minister for Agriculture the Hon. Barnaby Joyce MP: Please urge South Korea to ban the dog and cat torture and consumption!

Dear the Honorable Barnaby Joyce, Please watch this video: and South Korea is the world's 14th largest economy, yet an estimated 2.5 million dogs and thousands of cats are brutally slaughtered and eaten as "health food" each year.  Forced to endure deprivation and unimaginable torment from the moment they are born until the day they are slaughtered. Dogs are imprisoned in cramped, rusty, raised cages all their lives with no protection from extreme weather and no water, exercise, companionship or medical care. Their eardrums are often burst to prevent them from barking, and in broad daylight in the presence of other live dogs, they are electrocuted, hanged, beaten or burnt to death. People's beloved pets are also lured and caught and also end up as meat.  This cruelty is profit-driven, tax-free, and unregulated. It also aggressively promotes the myth that eating a dog (especially a dog's penis) enhances male virility and gives men energy. These Koreans believe that the more the dogs suffer, the more the consumer will enjoy the health benefits and taste of the meat. Many of the dogs are sadistically made to experience extreme fear and suffering prior to death. Cats are frequently boiled alive to make tonics believed to treat rheumatism.  The demand is so high in South Korea now, that 20% of the dog meat it now imported from China.  It is hard to believe in the twenty-first century, that a civilized nation such as South Korea, which is one of the major economic powers in the world, and also boasts one of the highest educational levels in the world, is still committing this type of barbarism and despicable cruelty. If South Korean wants to join civilized nations around the world, and be respected as a nation of conscience, they need to strengthen their animal protection laws and ban the consumption of dog and cat once and for all.   Animal welfare organisations and animal lovers worldwide strongly believe that the unprecedented cruelty towards animals in the dog and cat meat industry in South Korea can no longer be tolerated. It is the moral duty of Australian government to intervene on behalf of the Australian animal advocates who are oppose to this cruelty.  Australian government should urge the South Korean government to respect and enforce not just its own laws, but also Global Animal Protection Laws.  We oppose this cruelty on ethical, health, environmental and moral grounds. It is unconscionable for the Government to ignore the growing shock and outcry on social media sites worldwide about this barbaric practice. With the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, we feel that the timing is perfect for worldwide pressure on South Korea.  We call on you and your government to put pressure on the South Korean government and its legislators to embrace moral leadership on behalf of their citizens and completely shut down the dog and cat industry. Not only will this protect the Korean animals from unimaginable suffering, it will also further South Korea's economic interests in the global community.  Mahatma Gandhi said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral  progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated".   The situation that exists now in South Korea for dogs and cats is not about culture, but about allowing cruelty to continue. This is also about doing the right thing as a nation - actions which will ultimately lead to being respected amongst its own citizens, and indeed the citizens of the world.  As a representative of the Australian government, we urge you to take a strong stand on this important issue and boycott the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics and all South Korean businesses and industries, until the South Korean government takes the necessary steps to ban these atrocities!  Please do not turn a blind eye to this urgent and tragic situation.  Use your power and position to put pressure on the South Korean government to ban the consumption of dog and cat meat once and for all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please also send online message to the Honorable Barnaby Joyce here using our petition as sample letter: Electorate Office: Shop 5, 259 Peel St, Tamworth, NSW, 2340Post: PO BOX 963, Tamworth, NSW, 2340

In memory of Rex, Betty, and Kenya. Sentient creatures demanding a Ban on 1080

Please meet Rex  Betty, and Kenya. On 11 April 2014, Rex died a painful death after eating  a Sodium Monofluoroacetate (1080) poisoned bait, in his suburban backyard in Collie, Western Australia. Rex's death was drawn out and  was observed by his owners who were unable to help him.  Rex howled and yelped, he frothed at the mouth, he ran around wildly, he fitted and died. Tests were undertaken on the baits found in the backyard and they were 1080 dry baits. Domestic Pets regularly die across Australia from eating 1080 baits, wildlife suffer the same cruel and unnecessary fate.   1080 is a poison with no known antidote. It kills all breathing creatures slowly and cruelly and has the capacity to kill humans. There is limited control over baits being collected after laying or aerial dropped, no policed collection of baited meat which means  birds die from secondary poisoning. Native non target species are killed from 1080 including endangered species. Thousands of domestic dogs die each year from 1080 poison, many go unreported because it is so distressing for the owners to observe. In humans, symptoms include pains in the chest, nausea, vomiting, respiratory distress and frothing of the mouth, coma.   1080 does not discriminate. Made in USA and banned in most countries it is still used in epidemic proportions across Australia. 1080 does not definitively remove the unwanted species, it is a temporary highly toxic short term "fix" that is a risk to public health. The use of 1080 to kill "wild dogs" and dingoes is causing mayhem to the natural biodiversity of this country. Dingoes are the apex predator and killing dingoes simply causes a repopulation of  the so called "pest species" . The Australian Government is not heeding the warnings of scientists. There are many other methods to control so called unwanted species without using a toxic poison like 1080. It is a cruel barbaric poison which brings about a ghastly death that no creature should have to endure. 1080 is a potential threat to human health, particularly as it is freely used in Urban areas.

Help secure the future of free-range pig & poultry farming in Victoria

Recently the Victorian Government released their proposed reforms to planning controls for Victoria's animal industries. You can read about these HERE. The proposed planning provisions will intentionally place small-scale pig and poultry farmers in the same group as large-scale intensive farming operations. This will render meat production prohibitive for current and aspiring farmers, which will destroy local, small-scale agriculture and reduce eaters’ choice of pork and poultry to factory-farmed meat only.  The purpose of having land zoned for farming in the planning scheme is to protect farming that is low risk to environment and amenity. Requiring pastured livestock producers to obtain a permit places an unnecessary control that will seriously hinder ethical meat production in Victoria.  The proposed changes to the regulations completely ignore what sets small pastured poultry and pigs farms apart from intensive large-scale meat production in sheds. They do not take into account the effects of regenerative practices many of these farms pride themselves on, such as frequent moves of animals, mobile housing and feed infrastructure, and a focus on maintaining pasture year-round. The proposed changes would: Treat a pastured producer with 500 birds the same as an intensive producer with 500,000 birds in sheds. Treat a pastured pig producer with more than 8 sows the same as an intensive producer with 800 sows in sheds. Allow an existing intensive poultry farm to open a new range for up to 150,000 chickens without any of the restrictions placed on a farmer with 500 chickens. Enforce 100m buffer zones from neighbouring dwellings on pastured poultry farms with up to 450 birds and pastured pig farms with up to about 8 sows – rendering small scale farming on land less than 200m wide practically impossible (To give some perspective, a minimum of 1000 birds and 100 pigs is typical for viable small-scale systems). Allow an intensive cattle feedlot with up to 1000 cattle to be established with no permit. What this means for farmers It means that small-scale farmers will be required to deal with unnecessary, prohibitive and expensive red tape, which may put many farmers out of business. This will have a follow-on impact on local employment opportunities both on farms and in value adding industries. The proposed changes will also discourage new people from entering farming.   What this means for eaters Access to genuine free-range meat will be even harder as small-scale pastured livestock farmers fold under the pressures of an unfair planning scheme, which comes on top of diminishing access to processing facilities. Victoria, the ‘foodie capital of Australia’, could see the collapse of the very farming systems that underpin the delicious and artisanal produce for which our state is famous. What we want We call on Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford and Minister for Planning Richard Wynne to explain why low-risk small-scale pastured pig and poultry farms are to be subjected to greater scrutiny and compliance costs than cattle feedlots. We demand that small-scale pastured pig and poultry farms be treated under the Farming Zone like other low-risk grazing systems that rely on supplemental feed such as the majority of Victorian beef and dairy cattle. Join our social media campaign! Join us in demanding change by sharing a photo of your pastured poultry or pork farm, or of meals created from these farms’ produce, and calling on ministers to support scale-appropriate planning controls that encourage rather than hinder regenerative and ethical farming in Victoria. Share your stories of what these farms mean to you, and your community and family’s health and well being – ask that the ministers help to secure the future of fair food in Victoria. SAVE AUSTRALIAN ANIMALS/MARINE LIFE IN DANGER. Revise harmful Invasive Animal Legislations

To the Australian Politicians, Main Issue 1 a Your Environmental control systems are fragmented. See the big picture and have you ever witnessed so many animals get killed all over this country Australia! by Invasive Animals Australia. Is it not obvious that each territory is running a killing havoc with our precious animals and marine life. Its completely unnecessary and abnormal in forms of addressing these issues for farmers and their natural surroundings. Farmers can capture these animals in more humane ways, using traps then rangers taking these animals to zoos and sanctuaries, animal carers & WIRES. Main Issue 1 b. Can you please tidy up a reckless situation which includes MP Barnaby Joyce in the National Party for Australian Agriculture, (current update in December 2017...MP Barnaby is no longer in charge of the agriculture & water portfolio), KIAA. Kangaroo Industry, Primary Industry, Shooters Party, NPWS, NPWS rangers and shooters, OEH, Bio security legislations and Invasive animal legislation involving animal cruelty Marine life cruelty, Australians like their animals and marine life. These people have use excuses to protect farmers, but in reality, they are killing for a meat industry, skin sports industry. What is this NSW Environment, climate change & water ?, what is this National Parks? your 'Handbook for Kangaroo Harvesters'. (YourHandbook for Kangaroo Harvesters - · PDF file)4 Handbook for Kangaroo Harvesters Introduction DECCW has prepared this handbook to help kangaroo harvesters meet the NSW Government’s requirements Primary Industry cannot label all these animals as invasive species then use that as an excuse to market their dead meat for selling commercially. How dare your government mass murder our Native kangaroo species to grind into PET FOODS, fox baits, wild dog baits, export human consumption to 70 countries. This is downright wrong, its virtually stealing and robbing our wildlife native animals that belong to this COUNTRY ' AUSTRALIA'. These animals do not belong to politicians, or shooters, or pet food suppliers! Absolutely NOT! and this True Native Kangaroo Wildlife is not for export for 70 countries on your target list including Russia, Korea, China, USA, human consumption, skins for sporting accessories, you virtually stole WILDLIFE, you downgraded these special animals so you can treat them as invasive! then KILL! PROFIT. Main Issue 1c. Have politicians tried to listen to comments made by Australians & an international community about animal cruelty. Politicians were voted in to represent all, not just Primary Industry, Bio-security and Invasive Animals Australia, using unending excuses to slaughter our animals. The Greens Party and National Parks NPWS, have also used unending excuses for vegetation damage and labelled all these animals including Brumbies (wild horses) FERAL! taking advantage of government grants/funding to eradicate Australian animals. This is so corrupt it needs an internal review. It was these same groups that oppose hunting when previous NSW Liberal Premier Barry O'Ferral reversed the conservation policies to allow hunting inside National Parks and Conservation Parks, Weirdly these groups have since joined INVASIVE ANIMALS AUSTRALIA to eradicate most of the animals by NPWS rangers and shooters. ALL EXTREMELY HYPOCRITICAL! Game hunting inside National Parks should be banned. As well as pouring poisonous chemicals into rivers!. Do you understand how bad the government has behaved by allowing mining in the nearby reefs! Knowing the Great Barrier corals are dying and climate change action is needed. The Governments supporting this mine reflects how desperate politicians are to cash in and prepared to destroy Australia's most famous REEF! Affecting tourism and marine life! As much as you use tax payer funds to do your government jobs, there are many more ways to resolve this form of culling other then downright murdering our animals, birdlife and murdering our marine life. 1. Rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD), also known as rabbit calicivirus disease (RCD) or viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD), is a highly infectious and often fatal disease that affects wild and domestic rabbits of the species Oryctolagus cuniculus. The infectious agent responsible for the disease is rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), or rabbit calicivirus (RCV), genus Lagovirus of the family Caliciviridae. Do you accept there will be lawsuits should pet rabbits die from politicians delegating to bio-security for allowing these viral disease to be spread by mosquitoes, fleas, flies? Our cities do not need these viruses RHDVK5, contain it in your farms! Provide an adequate vaccine by vets for the defence of these human spread viruses now. 2. Snowy Mountain Brumbies, How many horses are slaughtered! Why is the entire control especially Primary Industry NSW run by the Shooters Party? Their scientists are all game hunters! There is no fair votes inside these organizations! Hundreds of wild horses slaughtered in abattoirs! Shame again on Invasive Animals Australia, for passing policies that allow them to label wild brumbies as pests!. Have you politicians wondered it could be more financially viable to build dams or ponds for these Brumbies to drink water from, There are endless reserves to relocate these Brumbies. Public land belongs to all taxpayers! Public land is not owned by politicians! Australian regional landholders with adequate fencing can seriously help adopt Brumbies Australia wide. Information is provided here how to adopt your Brumbies The Australian Brumby Alliance has registered members country wide that are volunteer groups rehoming these beautiful animals. Save a brumby, adopt a brumby, sponsor a brumby 3. How many Koalas are still being culled, (they culled over 900 Koalas in Victoria under Liberals, now under Labour, they stated they would continue to cull). Have they planted more eucalyptus trees to feed the Koala population? Reference to Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Currently approved in NSW, Why are you politicians from NSW Liberal party allowing the Koala Habitat clearance to make way for the NSW RMS project when there were alternate routes?. Currently approved in NSW, why are you Liberal politicians allowing the logging in Port Macquarie?. You are harming most Koalas inside these habitats. Currently there is an emergency volunteer Koala hospital and a volunteer Koala Ambulance in Port Macquarie from the destruction and harm. 4.  Is Eco tourism important to politicians?,  Australian Primary Industry is now making Australia FAMOUS for SLAUGHTERING AUSTRALIAN ANIMALS, MARINE LIFE, BIRDLIFE.  Read the petition comments from a world wide audience please. Your Environmental policies which labelled most animals feral, invasive, pests is wiping out this sector. Governments policies are not only harmful, many Territory and State government policies in this category are damaging to the extremes. Governments are ever changing and each will alter policies and whilst in government, why not make a difference to a healthy environment! History will always be around to remind. What is the responsibility/role of an 'Environment Minister' and 'Tourism Minister'?  Some Australian MP's are given two, three portfolios with conflicting cases which has become counter productive in its planning. (Example: Environment & Energy, Tourism and Trade, Environment, Planning, gaming). Q. What is eco tourism? A. Tourism directed towards exotic natural environments, intended to support conservation efforts and observe wildlife. Encouraging these activities does provide endless jobs for the communities. (Wildlife Science graduates coordinating research programs, wildlife educational activities for visitors and school children, the list is endless). 5. Should Australia be well known for slaughtering animals, birdlife and marine life? Animals/marine life/birdlife are part and parcel to our environment. 6. Australia has endless raging bushfires yearly during the summers, these native animals they label PESTS to be slaughtered inside our National parks using excuses for vegetation damage is false! The raging bushfires are from overgrown vegetation and these animals help trim the overgrown vegetation. Its time you politicians see the advantages of having animals inside National Parks and conservation Parks. Stop labelling animals PESTS so your partner political parties have access to shoot them dead! or poison them DEAD! 7. The Great Barrier Reef is Australia's most important natural asset and you all turned a blind eye to the problems facing this asset. Instead of saving it, you allow mining in this nearby reef. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IS A SADISTIC INHUMANE CRUEL ACT OF IGNORANCE! THE GREEDY POLITICIANS QLD LABOUR PARTY NEED TO RISE ABOVE YOUR ILL MISTAKES AND REVERSE THE DAMAGE IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT ALLOW MINING NEARBY THE GREAT BARRIER REEF!  ITS AN UGLY HOLE, UGLY EYESORE OF A PROJECT THAT SHOULD NEVER EVEN HAVE BEEN GIVEN APPROVAL! THIS IS CORRUPT. 8. STOP POURING POISONOUS CHEMICALS INTO THE RIVERS! BARNABY JOYCE FROM THE NATIONALS PARTY WANTS TO MASS MURDER CARPS  Why don't you make way FOR FRIENDLIER ENVIRONMENTAL GOVERNANCE THAT DOES CARE for Australia's natural assets, animal, marine life & birdlife, natural land/marine environments without polluting it further with poison chemicals! 9. STOP THE KANGAROO CULL AUSTRALIA WIDE and Canberra by SHOOTERS and territory government councils,  STOP IMMEDIATELY, you people that shoot innocent animals are so disgustingly barbaric its out of control in NSW, Canberra, OLD, WA, VIC. STOP IMMEDIATELY! The reasons for this slaughter in not justified! its a dated program that should be immediately terminated. These KANGAROOS are not on private pastures, its public land and they are living innocently in their own habitats. These animals belong to Australia, they belong to our natural environment, Primary Industry and Invasive animals Australia do not own our animals! Therefore have no right to do as they please towards our animals! 10. Why is Tasmania culling Wombats, issuing culling licences to kill these animals! Has this COUNTRY GONE ABSOLUTELY MAD? STOP LISTEN to the PEOPLE! 11. Looking for more animals to kill, NPWS,  Invasive Animals Australia, Invasive Animals NSW, next review is the DEER on their pest list pushed by the GREENS!, sweet innocent harmless DEERS Yes BAMBI, they now want to murder our DEERS! Shooters and farmers don't listen to INVASIVE ANIMALS AUSTRALIA! Shooters and farmers, don't listen to the GREENS PARTY! (Under Greens party, over 50,000 Deers are eradicated, culled by hunters in Victoria), using excuses of trampling, the road dirt trampling's are from your four wheel drives digging into the mud, yet blaming the innocent Deers. Update: Primary Industry NSW has decided to not label Deers Invasive leaving it to be hunted for game shooters in NSW, GREENS PARTY ARE ANGRY because they want 'Deer' to be labelled PEST! what is right with you people? sick?, Humans have become the pest in society wanting to label every animal a pest, shameful humans, shameful politicians. 12. Mass shootings by the Shooters Party in conjunction with Victorian Labour Party, how dare you wipe out waterbirds and wild ducks in your full weekend of shooting in the wetlands!. You destroyed beautiful natural wildlife to the extremes leaving thousands of birds mass buried. UGLY sight!       Farms need to build safer greenhouses for their crops and seedlings. In Bio-diversity every animal co-exist. Foxes attack their cattle if the rabbit population is non existent. Farmers can protect their private farms! Why bring viruses into the city park reserves, we don't breed herds in the city to feed the population. Brumbies are part of the Snowy Mountains environment, they have been living there well over 180 years. Its turning into a Wild Horse Meat Industry by Primary Industry. Primary Industry should support farmers by subsidizing adequate fencing for predators instead of pouring a constant amount of their tax paid funds into repetitive pesticides and poisons. What are you doing for farmers?     Koalas were brought into Great Ocean Road to become a tourist hotspot, then its all very hypocritical to cull them using excuses of starvation. Why have the rangers and environmental conservationists not replant eucalyptus trees for these Koalas! Why have you allowed the RMS to clear massive native vegetation to make way for the Pacific Hwy Road Extension when there were alternate routes available that doesn't require logging of eucalyptus tree habitats! Did you sell the timber from all this logging ? The public needs all the details! its public environment!.  25th June 2017, In Australia Wide ABC with Yasmin, Phillipa McDonald reported the NSW government is logging in Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour. You should not be harming the Koalas in Port Macquarie. You are logging right in the Koala Territory. STOP THIS HABITAT DESTRUCTION NOW!. This is contradictory to your protection policy for Koalas. Due to Koalas endangered status, you allow the habitat destruction and place new plans to allocate millions of dollars funding to map new Koala habitats for conservation therefore why destroy in the first place.    Government run agencies, NPWS, Invasive Animals Australia call themselves environmentalists, scientists, their excuses about saving bio diversity: save mosses, native plants, cattle pasture competing with tiny rabbits eating few pieces of grass!  What are you doing to the environment! Your actions are hypocritical! These agencies should retreat and make way for new agencies/councils that co-ordinate Australia wide re-homing of animals that farmers trap, remove humanely, transfer alive to local zoos, wildlife carers, wildlife organisations.    National parks NPWS, can't even tidy up the overgrown shrubs inside their reserves, its the tiny rabbits, deers and native animals that are helping them lawn their overgrown national park reserve shrub, weeds!.     Its a national disgrace! 'Dead bunny rabbits', 'Dead Waterbirds & dead Wild Ducks',  'murdered Kangaroos', 'murdered Brumbies', 'murdered Koalas', 'murdered Wombats', 'murdered Ponies', 'murdered Donkeys', Deer slaughters and other affected wildlife/birdlife/marine life poisoning and blowflies spreading RHDVK5, spreading Cyprinid herpesvirus 3 into lakes and rivers. Mining pollution from future mining operations near the Great Barrier Reef!. STOP clearing Habitats destroying all the trees, Koalas are hanging on roads and fences, birds have no more flight paths to land they are flying on road highways.                           The country is going backwards in 2017.                       The World is watching and they are alarmed!                                       ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Barnaby Joyce: dairy farmers are facing a daily struggle - please step in urgently

Dear Chloe and fellow petitioners, As many of you are aware, the Coalition Government has been closely monitoring the impact of the recent farm gate price cuts by Fonterra and Murray-Goulburn on their suppliers. Since the retrospective pricing decision was made we have been in ongoing consultation with stakeholder groups as well as affected dairy farmers from Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Southern NSW to work out how best the government can assist. Every element of the comprehensive assistance package we have unveiled today has been informed by our discussions with dairy farmers. The package is designed to support our farmers get through this challenge because we know that the Australian dairy industry has a prosperous, sustainable and long-term future in our country, with significant opportunities for growth in the years ahead. The details of the package can be found on the accompanying media statement below and on the National Party website: Relevant government agencies including the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Department of Human Services will update their websites over the coming days with more information about how to access the various support measures. In the meantime I would encourage all affected dairy farmers to call their local Rural Financial Counselling Service (which we have boosted) or the Farmer Assistance Hotline on 132 316. Thank you for getting behind our dairy industry at this difficult time, I know that every farmer I have met has appreciated all of your support. Regards, Barnaby Joyce Deputy Prime Minister --------------------------- THE COALITION WILL GUARANTEE SUPPORT FOR AUSTRALIAN DAIRY FARMERS The Coalition Government announced today that it will provide support for Australian dairy farmers who have had their incomes retrospectively cut by dairy processors Murray-Goulburn and Fonterra. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce said the Coalition will deliver immediate assistance to dairy farmers in hardship to help them manage through these difficult times and return to profitability. “I was pleased to meet dairy farmers in Victoria last week and the Coalition wants to send a clear message that the Coalition stands shoulder to shoulder with them,” Mr Joyce said. The key elements of the support package are: · $555 million in Dairy Recovery Concessional Loans · $20 million to fast track the upgrade of the Macalister Irrigation District · $2 million to establish a commodity milk price index · $900,000 for an additional 9 Rural Financial Counsellors in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales · $900,000 for Dairy Australia’s ‘Tactics for Tight Times’ programme · Fast tracking Farm Household Allowance applications with 18 more Department of Human Services employees processing claims · Appointment of a Department of Human Services Dairy Industry Liaison Officer · Redirection of two Department of Human Services Mobile Service Centres to dairy regions “The Coalition will be making immediately available $55 million in Dairy Recovery Concessional Loans for Murray-Goulburn and Fonterra suppliers this year, as well as access to $500 million in concessional loans over 2016-17 and 2017-18 years. The recovery loans will be for terms of 10 years,” Mr Joyce said. The concessional loans will be funded by expanding the drought concessional loan scheme to include dairy-specific criteria. Mr Joyce said the Coalition was allocating $900,000 to Rural Financial Counselling Services in dairy production areas to ensure farmers receive the farm business financial advice needed, as well as $900,000 to Dairy Australia to continue rolling out one-to-one business advisory support via the Tactics for Tight Times programme. Minister for Human Services, Alan Tudge said the Coalition is taking immediate action to ensure eligible dairy farmers have fast-tracked access to the support they need to get through the tough times. “We’ve ramped up the number of staff processing Farm Household Allowance claims. An extra 18 people have been brought in to process claims and to work directly with farming families on their individual cases, with a special focus on people in financial hardship,” Mr Tudge said. “Where a farmer is facing real hardship and we have received the full details, a decision can be made almost immediately. If there is any difficulty obtaining the information we need to assess a claim, Farm Household Case Officers can talk to the farmer’s accountant or financial adviser to help get the information needed. “Our one-stop-shop Mobile Service Centres are now travelling through the hard-hit dairy areas of regional Victoria and South Australia. The Service Centres provide direct access to the full range of Government services and are staffed with people who can answer farmers’ questions. Farmers can submit claims for Farm Household Allowance and other income support at the Mobile Service Centre, or by mail, online or at any Centrelink or DHS Service Centre.” Mr Tudge said the Coalition will appoint a dedicated Dairy Industry Liaison Officer who will work on the ground with dairy farmers and local communities to coordinate support and services. “I encourage any farmer with questions to contact the Farmer Assistance Hotline on 132 316, which is running on extended hours from 8am to 8pm each week day,” Mr Tudge said. Mr Joyce said the Coalition is delivering these assistance measures now as an immediate response under the Caretaker Conventions, not waiting until after the election on 2 July. “In a sign of our strong confidence in the future of the Australian dairy industry, a re-elected Coalition Government will commit $20 million to build the upgrade of the Macalister Irrigation System in Gippsland,” Mr Joyce said. “The Macalister project will upgrade the 1920s and 1950s era Southern-Tinamba area irrigation network delivering almost 10 gigalitres in water savings which can be put back into growing the region’s agricultural production.” Mr Joyce said to help ensure the domestic dairy industry does not in future find itself in a situation where dairy processors unexpectedly reduce farm gate milk prices late in the season, a re-elected Coalition Government will work with the dairy industry to establish a commodity milk price index. “The index would introduce greater transparency and market signals in domestic and global milk prices. The Coalition will consult with the industry on the design of the index that would provide dairy farmers with valuable information for use in supply negotiations with processors and to assist in following international price trends,” Mr Joyce said. “The Coalition values the contribution our dairy farmers make to their regional communities and the nation as a whole and we are proud to support them throughout good times and bad.”

Barnaby Joyce: dairy farmers are facing a daily struggle - please step in urgently

I have closely monitored developments following the Murray Goulburn and Fonterra decisions to reduce farm gate milk prices for the 2015-16 season and since that time have had a number of discussions with farmers, industry leaders, processors and retailers. I have appreciated the opportunity to meet with dairy farmers and industry representatives this week while in Victoria to hear firsthand their concerns and reassure them of the Coalition’s support. The Coalition Government values the contribution Australia’s dairy farmers make to our communities, underpinning regional economies and supplying high quality food products. They deserve all our support. It is clear that farmers acknowledge the work the Coalition has done to support them in recent weeks. A number of new ideas have been presented to me outlining what more we might be able to do. Dairy farmers I’ve met have asked me to look at a range of options including concessional loans, additional rural financial counselling support and a fast-tracked Farm Household Allowance assessment process. With over half of Australia’s 6,100 dairy farmers directly impacted by Murray Goulburn and Fonterra’s decisions it is clear that this will have a significant impact not only on their suppliers, but also on the confidence of dairy farmers supplying other processors. Caretaker provisions prevent me from acting unilaterally and therefore I am unable to announce further support measures at this time. It is my intention to consult with the Opposition on the support package within days. I ask my Opposition counterpart to work quickly with me in a bipartisan way to finalise the support package. In the meantime, assistance programmes are already in place to support dairy farmers including the Farm Household Allowance (FHA) and the Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS). The ACCC and the ASIC continue to review the matter.
