Ashley Elizabeth Hinson is an American politician and journalist currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 2nd congressional district since 2021. Initially, she represented the 1st district, which encompasses much of northeastern Iowa, including cities like Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Dubuque. A member of the Republican Party of Iowa, Hinson previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California. Before her political career, Hinson was a news anchor at KJCT News 8 and a journalist at KCRG-TV9. Her experience in both journalism and politics underscores her commitment to serving the people of Iowa.
