Annette Sweeney is an American politician currently serving as the Iowa State Senator for the 27th District. A member of the Republican Party, she has been in the Iowa Senate since 2018, when she won a special election to succeed Bill Dix. Sweeney previously served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2009 to 2013. Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in English/Drama from Concordia College LCMS. In addition to her legislative work, Sweeney has held various roles, including owner of Practical Promotions, executive director of the Iowa Angus Association, Iowa Rural Development Director at the USDA, and a middle school teacher. Her diverse experience underscores her commitment to public service and rural development.
