Ann Rivers is an American politician and educator who serves as a Republican member of the Washington State Senate, representing the 18th district since her appointment in 2012 after Joe Zarelli's resignation. Born in 1968, Rivers previously served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2011 to 2012. During her first full term in the Senate, she was appointed as the majority whip, a significant role typically not given to freshman senators, as part of the Majority Coalition Caucus that shifted control from the Democrats. She was re-elected in 2012 with 67% of the vote. Rivers holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Central Michigan University and has worked as the owner of Convergence Northwest.
