Andrew Yang is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, best known for his advocacy of a universal basic income (UBI) of $1,000 a month for every American adult. Born on January 13, 1975, Yang studied economics and political science at Brown University, then attended Columbia Law School, after which he pursued a successful career in entrepreneurship and non-profit organizations. He is the founder of Venture for America, a nonprofit that focuses on creating jobs in struggling American cities.
